WESTFIELD, N.J. — The Columbia men's golf team competed in the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday at Echo Lake Country Club. The Lions finished the tournament in 11th place (+59).
First-year Grant Lester led Columbia's efforts with a 29th-place finish in the 60-man field. Lester, the team leader in stroke average through his first semester, posted a three-round total of 13-over-par 226, which included a final-round even-par 71 on Tuesday. Senior Wyatt McGovern posted Columbia's low round of the tournament with a 1-under 70 on Tuesday, which included five birdies and four bogeys.
The Lions rallied on the final day with a team round of 12-over 296. Along with McGovern's 70 and Lester's 71, juniors Darren Pang and George Rubelsky posted counting scores of 77 and 78, respectively. Each tied for 44th on the individual leaderboard.
The Georgetown Intercollegiate concludes Columbia's fall tournament schedule. However, the Lions will, once again, host an exhibition match against Trinity College Dubin on Friday, October 25, at Saint Andrew's Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
