Lions welcome a 12-team field to second-annual event at Metropolis Country Club
NEW YORK — The Columbia men's golf team is proud to host The Metropolis Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 12-13, at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, New York.
This year's tournament features teams from host Columbia, Bryant, Cornell, Dartmouth, Fordham, Holy Cross, Iona, Lafayette, North Dakota State, Siena, Towson and Yale. The competition begins Monday with fixed tee times off holes 1 and 10, beginning at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday's final round will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Metropolis Country Club's par-70 course will be set to 6,878 yards.
As part of the event, an Am-Am better-ball competition will be held Sunday afternoon, concurrent with each team's practice round. A Metropolis member, sponsor, or other tournament affiliate will play the practice round with each team. College players who are participating in the Metropolis Am-Am are permitted to practice as normal, but must contribute to the team score with their predetermined ball.
Following the Am-Am event, a dinner for all teams and participants will be hosted at Metropolis Country Club on Sunday evening. Following opening remarks from Columbia Director of Golf Rich Mueller and Metropolis Board Member Adam Harris, there will be an NIL & Individual Branding discussion. Daniel Lust, a sports law attorney, professor, and media analyst, as well as Ed Lubowicki, a consultant, organizational psychology researcher, and Executive Director of Athletes Soul, will lead the discussion.
"We could not be more excited to, once again, host this event at Metropolis Country Club," Columbia Director of Golf and head men's golf coach Rich Mueller said. "I want to thank Metropolis, their staff, their members, our tournament committee and everyone who took part in making this event come together. It's a fantastic field and I believe a tremendous test for all participants. It will be a memorable few days ahead."
Columbia's starting lineup for Monday and Tuesday's event will feature Alejandro Formosa, Neil Kulkarni, Tom Yu, Spencer Carter and Ryan Keyes. Meanwhile, Charles Lange, Salil Khanduja, Sam Johnson and Hunter Po will compete as individuals.
Tee times and a live leaderboard will be available on the College Golf Scoreboard.
