INITIATIVES
The game on Saturday against the Quakers will be Columbia's annual "Dig Pink" game, and the Lions will be raising funds for the Side Out Foundation. Funds raised will go towards a clinical trial specifically for patients with stage 4 breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease and the least funded area of research.

LAST TIME OUT
Columbia closed out its month long road trip last Saturday evening with a trip to Connecticut to take on Yale.
The reigning Ivy League Champion and preseason-favorite Bulldogs entered the contest undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 record, but the Lions would not be intimidated. Yale emerged victorious, 3-1 (25-15, 19-25, 25-20, 25-22), after four hard-fought sets.
After a rough first set that was taken by Yale, Columbia bounced back in a back way in the second set. Juliana Williamson and Avery Jones got things started in a big way with a monster block on the first rally, igniting the Lions' offense. A kill from Williamson would highlight a 6-2 Columbia run, giving the Lions a 15-10 lead. Back-to-back kills from Harper Justema and Hailee Watts helped extend the lead to six, and that would be the final lead as Columbia tied the game up with a 25-19 win in the second set. The third and fourth sets were very evenly matched, but ultimately Yale's experience helped them pull away late in both to secure the victory.
Ruby van der Heide had a career-night, double-doubling with a career-high 39 assists and 10 digs to go with four service aces. Eva Atkins and Watts each tallied 10 kills. Delaney Seaman had a team-high 18 digs.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton enters the weekend with a 6-9 overall record. The Tigers are 4-2 so far in Ivy League play, with wins over Dartmouth and Harvard last weekend.
Last season, Princeton finished 14-9 overall, with an 11-3 mark in Ivy League play which was good for second place and a birth in the Ivy League Tournament where the Tigers lost to Brown in the Ivy League Semifinals. The Tigers swept Columbia in both of their matchups.
In the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Poll, Princeton was picked to finish in second place once again, receiving two first-place votes.
Kamryn Chaney leads the Tigers with 243 kills and 28 total blocks on the season.
SCOUTING PENN
Penn enters the weekend with a 9-6 overall record. The Quakers are 3-3 so far in Ivy League play. Last weekend, Penn was swept by Dartmouth but bounced back with a win over Harvard in five sets.
Last season, the Quakers finished 4-20 overall, with a 2-12 mark in Ivy League play. Penn defeated Columbia in both of their matchups in a total of seven sets.
In the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Poll, the Quakers were picked to finish in seventh place once again, one spot ahead of the Lions.
Zada Sanger leads Penn with 175 kills on the season.
