NEW YORK -- The Columbia volleyball team returned to Levien Gymnasium on Friday evening for a for its first home Ivy League contest against the Princeton Tigers after a month-long road trip. After a hard-fought first set, Princeton emerged victorious in straight sets (25-19, 25-13, 25-12).
The first set of the evening saw multiple tie scores and lead changes. Hailee Watts got things started smacking the Lions' first kill of the night, however, Columbia found itself behind 19-14 and called timeout to regroup. Princeton was able to maintain momentum after the break before emerging with a 25-19 win.
The Tigers kept their foot on the gas in the second and third set, finishing the evening with a blistering 47.6% hitting percentage en route to the sweep.
Watts led the Lions with seven kills, while Eva Atkins and Juliana Williamson each smacked five. Delaney Seaman tallied a team-high seven digs. Ruby van der Heide notched 19 assists.
Columbia will be back in action against Penn in Levien tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
