Goodwin was selected Offensive Player of the Week, while Merry took Special Teams Player of the Week
PRINCETON, N.J. — After Columbia football's victory at Penn on Saturday, the Lions had two student-athletes receive Ivy League Weekly Honors. Sophomore quarterback Chase Goodwin was named Ivy League Player of the Week, and sophomore placekicker Hugo Merry was tabbed the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week.
Goodwin completed 28-of-40 passes for 334 yards, both career-highs, and added two touchdowns in Columbia's first victory at Franklin Field since 1996. He completed passes to nine different receivers and became the first Lion to throw over 300 yards in a game since 2017. On the season, Goodwin is completing 67.3 percent of his passes, which is second in the Ivy League and No. 18 in FCS.
After hitting his first three field goals on Saturday, Merry established a new program record for consecutive field goals made with 11. He kicked off four times, registered touchbacks on each one, and converted on both PAT tries. Merry also moved up to No. 8 on Columbia's career list with 16 made field goals in under two seasons.
The Lions take on nationally-ranked Dartmouth, who is tied with Columbia atop the Ivy League standings, at Robert K. Kraft Field at Wien Stadium on Saturday, October 26, on Homecoming. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Tickets start at just $20. Click here to purchase seats, or call 888-LIONS-11.
