Henderson Voted Ivy League Player of the Week

Senior co-captain earns first career selection
PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia women's basketball's Kitty Henderson has been named Ivy League Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The league's first weekly awards of the season, as voted on by media members, were announced Monday afternoon.
Henderson stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals to lead the Lions in a pair of victories over Stony Brook and Providence. She also shot 57.7 percent from the floor.
A senior point guard from Australia, Henderson went for 17 points, eight rebounds, one block and game-highs of seven assists and three steals in a season-opening, 87-47, victory against reigning CAA regular season champion Stony Brook. Her seven assists came without a single turnover. Friday night at Providence, she followed it up with 18 points while leading all players with six assists and three more steals. She tied the game with just under a minute to play in regulation and scored 12 of her 18 points through the second half and overtime. Columbia defeated the Friars, 77-69, to improve to 9-1 in their last 10 games against BIG EAST opponents.
Sophomore Riley Weiss was named to this week's Ivy League Honor Roll. Weiss averaged a team-leading 21.5 points and shot 46.7 percent (7-15) from 3-point range in the two wins. She scored a career-high 25 points in the overtime win against Providence.
Columbia will host eight-time reigning Atlantic Sun Tournament champion Florida Gulf Coast (0-1) tonight at 7 p.m.
