Squash Set for Home Opening Weekend

Squash hosts Tufts Friday in first home contest
NEW YORK – The Columbia squash teams are at home for the first time this season with matches on Friday and Sunday at the SL Green Streetsquash Center in Harlem.
The men's and women's teams will host Tufts on Friday at 5 p.m. in the home opener to start the weekend. The men will then host Rochester at 11 a.m. Sunday, while the women will welcome Stanford to New York for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
MATCH COVERAGE
All matches this weekend will be streamed live though the Columbia Stretch portal. Video from the men's matches can be viewed HERE and video from the women's matches can be viewed HERE. Live scores for all matches will be available through Club Locker.
COLUMBIA IN THE RANKINGS
The men's team is currently ranked No. 8 in the College Squash Association rankings, while the women are ranked No. 9.
The men will face No. 10 Tufts and No. 15 Rochester this weekend, while the women host No. 13 Tufts and No. 5 Stanford.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The men and women are both 0-1 to start the season after falling to Virginia last weekend to start the season.
Tommy Soltanian, Zach Nam and Paarth Ambani earned wins on the men's side, but Virginia posted a 6-3 team victory. On the women's side, Virginia won all nine positions by 3-0 scores.
PREVIEWING THE OPPONENTS
On the men's side, Tufts is 1-2 to start the season. Tufts earned a win over No. 14 Western Ontario last Friday before losing to Trinity and Harvard to close out the weekend. Rochester is 1-1 so far with a win over No. 17 MIT in the season opener. Rochester was then defeated by Dartmouth to cap off action last weekend.
On the women's side, Tufts is 1-2 so far this season. Tufts defeats No. 12 Georgetown, 6-3 in their season opener last Friday. Tufts was then defeated by Trinity College and Harvard in two 9-0 losses to cap off last weekend. Stanford plays its season opener at Cornell on Friday before playing Williams on Saturday. Stanford will then come to Columbia to finish off the weekend.
