Eclipses 2,000 career points in Columbia’s first AP Top 25 Win
PRINCETON, N.J. – Following a storybook performance on her Senior Day, Columbia women's basketball senior Abbey Hsu has been named Ivy League Player of the Week. The league office announced its weekly winners Monday afternoon.
Hsu scored a game-high 26 points to lead Columbia (19-5, 10-1 Ivy) to a, 67-65, victory over No. 25 Princeton on Saturday. The win marked Columbia's first against an AP Top 25 opponent in program history – the Lions were previously 0-for-12 – and propelled Columbia into a tie for first place in the Ivy League standings.
Adding to the performance, Hsu became the fourth player in Ivy League women's basketball history to score 2,000 career points. Entering the game 11 away, the Parkland, Florida native sank her 355th career triple at the 6:31 mark of the third quarter to enter unchartered territory for any Columbia player, men's or women's, in school history. She went on to score 13 in that quarter to help bolster a 10-point lead. Hsu finished the game 8-for-14 from the field, including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.
At 20.8 points per game on the season, Hsu ranks No. 15 in the NCAA in scoring. She is also eighth in 3-pointers made per game (3.00) and top 20 in total threes (72). Hsu leads the Ivies in all of those categories, as well as 3-point percentage (.398), total points (500) and total field goals (179). She is also No. 4 in the Ivy League in rebounding (7.0), top 10 in shooting percentage (.450), top 10 in total blocks (14) and No. 12 in total steals (32).
Named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Award Midseason Watch List, Hsu now has 2,015 career points. She is within 100 of third place in Ivy League history (2,109), which belongs to Harvard's Hana Peljto (2000-04). Hsu averages 3.05 made threes per game in her career and is one of only two active players in the country who average at least 3.00 or more. The other is Iowa's Caitlin Clark (3.86).
Hsu and the Lions hit the road for their final three games of the regular season. They'll play a back-to-back this coming Friday and Saturday at Brown and Yale. Friday's tip-off against the Bears (14-10, 5-6 Ivy) at the Pizzitola Sports Center is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.

Hsu has now been named Ivy League Player of the Week seven times this season, passing Columbia Athletics Hall of Famer Judie Lomax '10BC for the most in a single campaign in program history. This is Hsu's 14th such distinction of her career, which moves her into a tie with Princeton's Niveen Rasheed (2009-13) for the third-most in league history.2️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ 👟
