(2) Columbia takes on (3) Harvard in a rematch of last year's semifinal
NEW YORK — Seedings and matchups for the 2024 Ivy League Women's Basketball Tournament were finalized Sunday morning. Columbia received the No. 2 seed and will face third-seeded Harvard in the semifinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The 2024 Ivy League Basketball Tournaments, presented by TIAA, are being hosted by Columbia this Friday-Sunday, March 15-17, at Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium. Tournament and ticketing information is available at IvyMadness.com.
Columbia (22-5, 13-1 Ivy) won its second straight Ivy League regular season championship on Saturday with a dominant, 82-46, victory at Cornell. Its 13 league wins are Columbia's most in its 38 years competing in the Ivy League.
Having tied for first place with Princeton in the regular season standings, the tiebreak for the tournament's No. 1 seed came down to the NCAA NET Rankings that were posted Sunday morning. Princeton earned the top seed with a NET of 33. Columbia's NET on Sunday was 53.
Columbia will be making its third consecutive postseason appearance. Last year, the Lions advanced all the way to the WNIT Championship Game against Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. Columbia's run in the WNIT was the furthest by any team in Ivy League history.
The Lions swept this year's regular season series against Harvard, earning an, 82-70, victory at home and a, 71-63, victory in Cambridge. This will mark the second straight year the two teams will meet in the Ivy League semifinals. Harvard won last year's matchup in overtime, 72-65.
The winner of each semifinal will advance to the Ivy League Tournament Championship, which will take place Saturday, March 16, at 5 p.m. ET. The championship game will be televised nationally on ESPNEWS. The semifinals will be available on ESPN+.
