PHOENIX — The Columbia men's golf team wrapped up the GCU Invitational on Wednesday at the GCU Golf Club. The Lions finished in 13th place.
Columbia completed the tournament at 14-over par (291-280-295—866). The Lions were led on the final day by George Rubelsky, who shot an even-par 71. Playing in his hometown of Phoenix, the sophomore posted three bogeys, a birdie and an eagle at the 347-yard, par-4 fourth. He drove the green at No. 4 with an excellent tee shot and made a six-foot putt for the eagle. The round was one shot off his career-low of 70, which he posted this past fall at Lake Placid Club.
Senior DJ Francey (+1) and junior Wyatt McGovern (+1) earned Columbia's top individual finishes. The duo tied for 28th and each shot a final-round 76.
Columbia has a few weeks to prepare for its next competition. The Lions compete again at the Princeton Invitational, April 6-7, at Springdale Golf Club.
