Lacrosse Defeated by Dartmouth

Anna Becker, Dani Falcone tally two goals each

HANOVER, N.H. - The Columbia lacrosse team hit the road on Saturday for an Ivy League contest against the Dartmouth Big Green, but came up short. Dartmouth came out hot, and went on to win its first Ivy League game of the season by a score of 17-7.

The Lions got off to a good start, as Dani Falcone found the back of the net to give Columbia a quick 1-0 lead, but Dartmouth would have an answer. The Big Green scored nine of the next 11 goals to take a 9-3 lead into the locker room.

Prior to that, with 5:54 remaining in the second quarter, Dani Falcone scooped up a draw control which was the 114th of her career. This moved her into sole possession of fourth place on the program's all-time draw controls list.

The second half wasn't much better for Columbia, as the Lions' defense couldn't find a way to slow down Dartmouth's attack and the Big Green went on to win by 10.

However, the highlight of the game came from Anna Becker just before the final seconds of the game clock expired. For the second time this season, Becker converted a no-look, behind-the-back goal off a beautiful feed from Falcone.

Falcone and Becker notched two goals each. Ellie Taylor, Natalia Raiszadeh, and Michelle Zhai each added a goal. Zhai chipped in two assists for three total points. First-year goalkepper Ava Kimche collected nine saves and a career-high seven ground balls.

Columbia will have a quick turnaround, traveling to take on CCSU on Tuesday, April 16 at 3 p.m.
