WATCHUNG, N.J. — Seniors
Nathan Han and
DJ Francey posted top 10 finishes to earn Second Team All-Ivy League honors at the 2024 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship. The tournament concluded on Sunday at Watchung Valley Golf Club. Columbia finished fourth in the team competition.
The All-Ivy honors are the second of Han's and Francey's respective careers – they were each First Team members as sophomores in 2022. Han finished this year's championship tied for eighth at 2-over par (72-70-73—215). Francey tied for 10th place at 3-over (72-74-70—216). The top 10 and ties earn All-Ivy accolades.
"I'm proud of the effort our guys put it — sadly, the effort didn't match the result we were hoping for, but sometimes that's just golf," Director of Golf
Rich Mueller said. "I was very grateful to our team and especially our seniors this week — they were excellent leaders. I'm also humbled by the amount of alumni, parents and friends of our program who showed up to support us."
Francey's 70 was his best round of the weekend and matched Han's 70 on Saturday for Columbia's low round. He strung together three consecutive birdies at Watchung Valley's par-5 third, par-3 fourth and par-5 fifth to get to 3-under on the day. Francey then bounced back from a double at the sixth with his fourth birdie of the front nine at the eighth to make the turn in 2-under 34. The senior from Weston, Florida carded five pars, three bogeys and an eagle at the 336-yard par-4 15th to finish off his 70. He climbed from 15th place to start the day to collect his All-Ivy honors.
Han finished off his illustrious career with a 2-over 73. Like Francey, he strung together three straight birdies on the front nine. Han made the turn at 1-over after a double at the eighth. He went on to par nine of his final 10 holes, collecting his sixth top 10 in eight tournaments this season. It was also his 22nd top 10 in 35 career tournaments.
Junior
Wyatt McGovern also finished in the top half of the field. The Hillsborough, California native tied for 16th at 6-over for the championship.
Columbia posted a final round 8-over-par 292 to finish 19-over for the weekend (286-293-292—871). Yale won the team title at 9-under 843.
The Ivy League Championship concludes Columbia's 2023-24 season.
