Softball Falls in Series Finale at Brown

Columbia returns home next weekend to host Yale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown used a sixth inning rally to come back and defeat Columbia, 3-2, in the series rubber match on Sunday afternoon. Columbia drops to 14-20 overall with an 8-7 Ivy League mark after dropping the final two games of the series to Brown.

Columbia took the lead in the top of the second inning and stayed in front until the bottom of the sixth inning when Brown used a three-spot to go in front.

Sarah Mikami and Cami Neal each belted solo home runs in back-to-back innings to put the Lions ahead early.

The Bears used a leadoff double, a walk and a base hit to load the bases with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. A sac fly scored Brown's first run of the game before a double brought in two runs to put the Bears ahead. Columbia was able to put two runners on base in the seventh, but they were left stranded as Brown held on for the win.

Raquel Reyes (6-9) was charged with the loss as she fired all 6.0 innings. Reyes allowed three runs on seven total hits in the outing.
