Han (-1) in the top 10 headed to Sunday’s final round
PRINCETON, N.J. — The Columbia men's golf team is right in the thick of it and sits in fourth place after the first two rounds of the Princeton Invitational. The annual 54-hole event began on Saturday at Springdale Golf Club.
Columbia (+4) fired team rounds of 1-over-par 285 and 3-over 287. Four Lions are inside the top 20, led individually by the play of Nathan Han. The senior from Somers, New York is tied for ninth at 1-under for the tournament (71-70). Teeing off at the 15th, Han was 2-over during his first round before carding his first birdie at the par-4 eighth. A bogey at the 10th pushed him back to 2-over but he drained a big eagle-3 at the par-5 12th for an even-par 71. His second round was extremely solid, posting just one bogey and two birdies to get into the clubhouse in red figures.
DJ Francey and Wyatt McGovern (+1) are each tied for 14th. Francey battled through a bit of an up-and-down day with eight birdies, five bogeys and two doubles. McGovern opened with Columbia's best individual round of the day of 2-under 69. Sophomore Darren Pang (+3) is tied for 20th.
Howard (-2) heads the team standings, followed by host Princeton (E), Seton Hall (+1) and Columbia. There is a seven-shot gap between the Lions and fifth-place Yale (+11). Fourteen teams and 75 individual competitors make up the field.
Sunday's final round will be a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET. Click here to track the results live courtesy of Golfstat.
