Lions finish 10th in their third tournament of the spring season
GREENVILLE, N.C. — Senior George Rubelsky and first year Neil Kulkarni posted a pair of top-25 finishes to highlight the Columbia men's golf team's performance at the ECU Intercollegiate. The tournament was held on Monday and Tuesday at Brook Valley Country Club.
Rubelsky finished 24th at 8-over-par 224, while Kulkarni was a stroke behind, tied for 25th, at 9 over. A senior from Phoenix, Rubelsky fired an opening-round 1-under-par 71 on Monday, carding four birdies and three bogeys along the way. He followed that up with a second-round 75 and battled back from six bogeys over his first nine holes on Tuesday to rally to a 6-over 78. Kulkarni had a similar tournament, pairing a 76 and a 71 on Monday with a closing 78 on Tuesday. His 71 was extremely consistent, posting two birdies and a single bogey at his closing fourth to go with 15 pars.
This is Rubelsky's fifth top 25 and Kulkarni's fourth of the 2025-26 season. The duo ranks first and second on the team in top-25 finishes. This week's field included 85 players.
Columbia got off to a strong team start with an opening round of 6-over-par 294. It included a pair of 71s from Rubelsky and first year Alejandro Formosa, coupled with a pair of 76s from Kulkarni and senior Darren Pang. The Lions (+54) ultimately finished 10th.
Next up is the Columbia Spring Invitational in just under two weeks, on Monday, March 30. The single-day, 36-hole event will take place at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania.
