Lightweight and Heavyweight Rowing Set for IRA National Championships

Racing is scheduled for Friday-Sunday at Mercer Lake
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — The Columbia lightweight and heavyweight rowing teams will race four boats in the 121st annual Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships at Mercer Lake this weekend.

Racing begins for the heavyweight crew at 8:20 a.m. on Friday for the 1V8 followed by the 2V8 at 9:40 a.m. The heavyweight crew will have entries into the lightweight 4+ and heavyweight 4+ races on Friday. The time trial begins at 11:40 a.m. and the semifinals will run in the afternoon.
On the final day of last year's IRA Championships for the heavyweight crew, the Lions' 1V8 boat raced in Final 3 on Sunday and finished in fifth place behind Navy with a time of 5:49.35. Columbia's 2V8 finished in second place with a time of 6:08.32 in Final 4 behind Georgetown.
