Field Hockey Falls at Wagner in Overtime

Wimmer records seven saves in loss

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Columbia field hockey dropped a 1-0 decision in overtime at Wagner on Sunday afternoon.

Evie de Baar netted Sunday's lone goal roughly five minutes into the overtime period to give the Seahawks (6-3, 2-0) the victory. Columbia has now played in five 1-0 decisions this year and six of the team's seven matches have been decided by a goal.

Columbia (2-5, 1-1) was outshot by Wagner 15-13 (10-3 on goal). The Lions' first shot on goal didn't come until less than two minutes remaining in the third quarter. Emma Reilly, Mckenzie Bloom, and Delfina Gonzalez Lobo were responsible for Columbia's shots on frame.

Emma Reilly and Lizzie Adams each tallied a defensive save for the Lions. Goalkeeper Katie Wimmer made seven saves in the cage.

The Lions look to snap a three-game losing streak with road matchups at Penn on Friday and Hofstra on Sunday.
