NEW YORK – The Columbia men's and women's squash teams were defeated by Harvard on Saturday afternoon at the SL Green Streetsquash Center to start Ivy League action.
 
The men's team moves to 3-2 overall this season with an 0-1 mark in Ivy play. The women are now 2-3 overall on the season with an 0-1 start to conference action.
 
MEN'S RECAP
Columbia and Harvard went down to the wire with Alex Yuzpe and Marcus Lee playing at the No. 9 spot to determine which team earned the victory. With the team score tied 4-4, Lee outlasted Yuzpe in five games to help No. 6 Harvard escape with a 5-4 win over No. 8 Columbia.
 
Shaurya Bawa, Zach Nam, Imad Athar and Laszlo Godde posted wins Saturday to keep the Lions in contention. Bawa and Athar both defeated their opponents in three straight games. Nam won in four games, while Godde battled back to win in five games at the No. 8 position.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Columbia fell to top-ranked Harvard, 8-1 to start the Ivy League slate with a loss. Simmi Chan earned Columbia's lone victory of the afternoon with a 7-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-6 win over Harvard's Saran Nghiem. Advita Sharma battled to five games against Harvard's Emma Carney in the No. 9 position, but was defeated in a tight contest.
