
Women’s Tennis Faces No. 23 UCF Sunday

Columbia and UCF will meet in Fort Myers for a neutral site contest
FORT MYERS, FLA. – The Columbia women's tennis team will meet 23rd-ranked UCF for a neutral site contest Sunday at Noon at the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers, Florida.
The Lions return to Fort Myers after defeating Florida Gulf Coast, 4-0 in the season opener on January 20. The doubles teams of Sophia Strugnell and Gayathir Krishnan and Fatima Keita and Malak El Allami secured doubles victories to start the match. El Allami, Krishnan and Sophia Wang posted wins in singles play to help Columbia earn the 4-0 victory.
Sunday will be a test for the Lions as UCF improved to No. 23 in the most recent ITA team rankings. The Knights cruised past Georgia Southern, 6-1 in the season opener last weekend. UCF is in action against No. 24 Florida State on Saturday before playing Columbia on Sunday.
Following this weekend, Columbia welcomes Maryland and Hofstra to the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center on Friday, January 31 for a home opening doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
