Women’s Tennis Opens Home Slate Against Maryland, Hofstra, Notre Dame This Weekend

Columbia plays Maryland, Hofstra, Notre Dame at home this weekend
NEW YORK – The Columbia women's tennis team will play inside the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center for the first time this season with matches against Maryland, Hofstra and Notre Dame this weekend.
Columbia will kick off the weekend with a Friday doubleheader against Maryland and Hofstra. First serve against Maryland is slated for 11 a.m. with the Hofstra match to follow at 3 p.m. The Lions finish the weekend with a 10:30 a.m. first serve against Notre Dame on Sunday.
Complimentary bagels and coffee will be provided for all fans prior to Sunday's match against Notre Dame.

Action from the Milstein Family Tennis Center this weekend will be broadcast live through Columbia's stretch portal. Fans can also follow live scores online for both matches this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
Columbia sits at 1-1 overall to start the season after falling to No. 23 UCF last weekend in a neutral site match. The Lions shined in doubles play against UCF as Fatima Keita and Malak El Allami won the top doubles match, and Gayathri Krishnan and Sophia Strugnell captured the doubles two match. Amber Yin turned in Columbia's only singles victory as UCF pulled away for the 4-2 team victory.
THE OPPONENTS
Maryland enters the weekend with a 1-1 record coming off a 4-2 win against BYU last weekend as part of ITA Kickoff Weekend. Maryland captured the doubles point and Oliwia Orlinska, Tamari Gagoshidze and Diya Challa earned singles wins to secure the team victory.
Friday's match against Columbia will be Hofstra's first dual match of the spring season. The Pride will then travel to Bucknell on Saturday to finish off their opening weekend.
Notre Dame comes into the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record. The Irish have defeated Ball State, Illinois, Depaul, Western Michigan and Butler so far this season. Notre Dame will play Maryland on Saturday at the Milstein Family Tennis Center before meeting Columbia on Sunday.
