
McDonald and Roussos Pick Up FCS ADA Academic All-Star Honors

McDonald and Roussos were two of 54 individuals honored
CLEVELAND — Columbia football senior safety Hayden McDonald and senior linebacker were selected to the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Annual Academic All-Star team Tuesday morning.
McDonald, an economics major from Seattle, has been named an All-American by five organizations after a standout senior season. He posted a league-high five picks, ranking second nationally in interceptions per game. He was second on the team in tackles with 68 and had seven pass breakups.
Roussos picks up the honor for the second consecutive season. The political science major from New Port Richey, Florida, led the team in tackles for the second year in a row, with 76. He registered double-figure tackles on four occasions, including season-highs of 12 in wins over Penn and Yale.
Football players from all Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) institutions are eligible for the award. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and completed at least one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in 50 percent of the games played at their designated position.
