Penn Scores Late to Defeat Field Hockey, 2-1

The Lions host Wagner on Sunday for the Broach Foundation Match

NEW YORK — Livia Loozen scored the game-winning goal with just over two minutes remaining to lift Penn past Columbia field hockey, 2-1, on Friday afternoon at the Columbia Field Hockey Complex.

Loozen delivered the game-winner with 2:02 to go on an assist from Honor Roberts to seal the win.

Columbia (5-6, 1-4) tied the game at 1-1 early in the fourth quarter when Ashley Kim scored off an assist from Mckenzie Bloom with 11:32 to play. The Lions generated just two shots in the match but capitalized on their lone attempt on goal.

Penn (6-5, 2-3) struck first in the opening period. Julia Ryan converted at 6:15 on a setup from Loozen. The Quakers outshot Columbia 9-2 and recorded six shots on goal. Columbia goalkeeper Margot Houle made four saves in 58 minutes before being subbed off in the closing stages.

The Lions were held to their only penalty corner in the second quarter. Columbia hosts Wagner on Sunday at 12 p.m. for the Broach Foundation Match.
