PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia women's soccer came up short on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Princeton in a key Ivy League matchup at Roberts Stadium. The result moves the Lions to 5-6-3 overall and 3-2-1 in Ivy League play, while the Tigers improve to 6-5-3 and 4-2-0 in conference action.
Columbia is now tied for third in the Ivy League with Harvard at 10 points, trailing Princeton (12) and Brown (11).
The Lions generated several quality chances throughout the match, outshooting Princeton 9-7 and producing eight of those attempts in the second half, but couldn't find the breakthrough goal. Princeton opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Dylan Jovanovic finished from close range off assists from Alexandra Barry and Caroline Kane. The Tigers doubled their advantage in the 66th minute, as Nina Cantor converted a penalty kick to make it 2-0.
Columbia continued to press late, earning four corner kicks in the final half-hour and nearly pulling one back on efforts from Maia Beltran and Dema Elder, but Princeton goalkeeper Cecilia Cerone made three second-half saves to secure the clean sheet.
Samantha Mahoney recorded two saves for the Lions, while the defensive trio of Aoife Turner, Justina Bitzer, and Leila Hawkins limited Princeton to just four shots on target.
Columbia totaled 15 fouls to Princeton's eight, while both teams were flagged twice for offsides. The Lions generated nine total shots, including three on frame, and earned four corner kicks.

The Lions return home next Saturday, November 1 for their final regular season match of 2025 with a postseason berth on the line. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. against Harvard at Commisso Stadium.
Prior to the match, the program will recognize its four seniors in a senior day ceremony.
