Junior guard collects league’s first weekly award of the season
NEW YORK – Columbia women's basketball junior guard Riley Weiss has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for games played November 3-9. The league office announced its first weekly awards of the season on Monday afternoon.
Weiss led the Lions to a 2-0 start, averaging 22.5 points and shooting 41 percent from the field in road wins over Butler and Ohio. She also averaged 3.0 rebounds, knocked down five threes, and collected a steal and an assist across the two games.
In Friday's season opener at Butler, Weiss scored nine of Columbia's final 14 points in regulation, helping erase a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit and force overtime. She went on to score a game-high 27 points on 10-of-22 from the floor, as the Lions walked out of Hinkle Fieldhouse victorious, 74-69.
Two days later, the Long Island native put up 18 points in just 24 minutes of action in a convincing, 92-74 win at Ohio. Weiss scored 13 second-quarter points and rested most of the second half with Columbia leading by as many as 30.
This is Weiss's fourth career Ivy League Player of the Week selection. She earned the award three times last season as a sophomore.
Perri Page landed on this week's Ivy League Honor Roll. The senior co-captain nearly averaged a double-double with 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists. She recorded a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds with a career-high six steals at Butler.
Columbia now prepares for its 2025-26 home opener on Saturday night against Richmond (1-1). Tip-off from Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
