
Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Yale on Friday

Bulldogs defeat the Lions, 213-87
Columbia opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, as the A team of Shaelyn Shields, Ashley Hong, Ella Chan, and Isabel Lee clocked a 1:44.86.
In the 1000 free, Mia Avansino led the Lions with a third-place finish in 10:19.82, followed closely by Sammy Segerson in 10:28.74. Freshman Meredith Stewart added points with a fifth-place time of 10:59.56.
Victoria Mori highlighted the 200 free, taking second with a time of 1:53.38.
Shields and Jilly MacNamara went 2-3 in the 100 back, posting times of 57.23 and 57.26, respectively.
Natalia Diaz led the Lions in the 100 breast with a 1:05.66, narrowly ahead of Hong at 1:06.37. Annabelle Kung earned third in the 200 fly (2:08.07), and Sally Ma continued her sprint consistency, placing second in the 50 free (23.89).
Distance swimmers Mia Avansino and Lindsay Orringer impressed in the 500 free, finishing second (5:02.62) and third (5:05.50), respectively.
Columbia closed the meet strong, placing second in the 200 free relay as Lee, Ma, Chan, and Audrey Wolk combined for a 1:34.90.
For the divers, Chloe Leung led the way with a second place finish on the 3m boards, notching her third zone cut of the season with a score of 253.95. She also had Columbia's highest finish on the 1m boards, placing fourth with a score of 272.18.
"A great day today for the women," Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. "The first event was the 3m and everybody dived well. The 1m contest was top-notch and Chloe scored her third NCAA score of the season. Excited to get back to work and prepare for Harvard!"

Columbia will return to the pool Next Friday morning for a dual meet against Harvard at Uris Natatorium beginning at 11 a.m.
