Men's Swimming and Diving Ready for Ivy League Championships

The competition will be hosted by Brown from February 26-March 1
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Columbia men's swimming and diving team is set to compete at the 2025 Ivy League Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on the campus of Brown University.
The meet, which is taking place from February 26-March 1 will begin on Wednesday evening with the finals of the 200-medley relay and 800-free relay. The rest of the week, prelims will begin at 11 a.m. every morning, with finals set for 6 p.m. every evening.

LAST TIME OUT
The Lions concluded the regular season with a 181.5-118.5 victory over the Dartmouth Big Green in New Hampshire.
The 200 medley relay team got things started with a big win, as the team of Adam Wu, Demirkan Demir, Brian Lee, and Zion James clocked in with an impressive time of 1:31.11.
Wu had an amazing day, winning two individual events as well. First, he won the 200 free with a time of 1:41.48 and then he won the 200 back with a time of 1:48.96.
Demir also won two individual events, taking first in both breaststroke swims. He won the 100 breast with a time of 55.44 and then won the 200 breast with a time of 2:02.70.
Zach Vasser won the first individual event of the day, touching the wall first in the 1000 free at 9:27.63.
Columbia closed out the meet as the team of Wu, Eckert, Beri Yang, and James won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:21.05. This was Wu's fourth win of the day.

The Lions not competing in the Ivy League Championships will head to Maryland to compete in the ECAC Championships hosted by Navy. That meet will begin on Friday, and a recap of the event will be available on Sunday via gocolumbialions.com.
RETURNING CHAMPIONS
At last year's Ivy League Championships, the 400-medley relay team was named Second Team All-Ivy after an impressive second-place finish in the event. The squad consisted of Isaac Beers (47.00), Demirkan Demir (51.84), Brian Lee (46.26), and Zion James (42.24), who combined for a time of 3:07.34 to win the silver medal. This mark also set a new Columbia program record. They will look to improve on that finish this year.
In addition, Demir was named First Team All-Ivy in 2023 in both the 100-breast and 200-breast after his gold-medal winning performances in both events. He defended his title from 2022 in the 100-breast with a pool record time of 52:03. Then, he went on to take first in the 200-breast as well with a time of 1:52.94. He will be looking to win his third gold medal in the 100-breast and second in the 200-breast in 2025.
In addition, as a rookie in 2023, Adam Wu received First Team All-Ivy honors in the 1,000-free, while also being named Second Team All-Ivy in the 500-free. Wu won the 1000-free with a program record and pool record time of 8:51.64. He went on to take the silver medal in the 500-free in what was also a program record breaking time of 4:14.74. He will be looking to re-gain the title in the 100-free in 2025.
ON DECK
Following the completion of the Ivy League Championships, the qualified divers will begin preparations for the NCAA Zone Diving competition on March 10.
