SPRINGFIELD, Pa. — The Columbia men's golf team earned a fourth-place finish in the Columbia Spring Invitational on Monday. The single-day, 36-hole event was held at Rolling Green Golf Club.
 
Columbia (+29) was led in the team event by first-year Grant Lester. The rookie from Washington, D.C. posted his fifth top-10 in eight tournaments on the 2024-25 campaign, tying for eighth at 5-over for the tournament. He carded rounds of 3-over-par 73 and 2-over 72, combining for four birdies, seven bogeys and one double across the two rounds.
 
Junior George Rubelsky tied for 16th at 7-over par. After opening with a 76, he started his second round with birdies on three of his first six holes. He was as low as 3-under on the round and battled to a 1-over 71. The top 20 is Rubelsky's third of the academic year.
 
Competing as an individual, senior William Sung put together one of his best performances of the season and finished in the top 10 at 6-over on the day. Sung's opening-round 74 included an eagle at the 515-yard, par-5 seventh. A triple-bogey at the 12th during his second round and a bogey at the 13th had him 8-over for the day with three holes to play, but Sung birdied the 203-yard par-3 14th and finished with another birdie at 16 to secure his first top-10 of the year.
 
Yale won the team event at 7-over-par 567, four shots clear of second-place Arkansas (+11). Dartmouth (+24) was third, Columbia (+29) was fourth and Bryant (+34) was fifth to round out the top five teams.
 
Individually, Arkansas's John Daly II won the tournament in a scorecard playoff at 1-under-par 139. Yale's Matthew Lin and Dartmouth's Tyler Brand were also 1-under for the tournament.

The Lions are back in action in two weeks, April 12-13, to compete in the Princeton Invitational.
