Lacrosse Defeated by #24 Harvard in Season Finale

Dani Falcone collects three points in final game

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Columbia lacrosse team's 2025 season came to a close on Saturday afternoon against #24 Harvard. The Crimson came away with an 18-4 victory in Cambridge in the final game of the year.

With her fourth draw control in the third quarter, Dani Falcone moved into sole possession of third place on the program's all-time draw control list with 164.

With the loss, Columbia concludes the season with a 4-11 record and an 0-7 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, Harvard improves to 9-6 on the season and to 3-4 in Ivy League play. The Crimson will miss out on the Ivy League Tournament, but will be seeking an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The game began on a high note, as Falcone found the back of the net less than four minutes into the contest to give Columbia an early 1-0 lead. However, the Crimson responded with eight unanswered goals to take a commanding 8-1 lead after one quarter.

Harvard scored two more goals to begin the second quarter, but Anna Becker was able to find the back of the net for Columbia's second goal of the afternoon to halt the Crimson run. Harvard would score two more goals before the half to take a 12-2 lead into the break.

The Lions opened the scoring in the second half with a goal from Cecelia Messner, but the Crimson would score twice later in the quarter to take a 14-3 lead into the final frame.

Harvard opened the fourth quarter with a quick goal. Maddie Brogan responded with her first goal of the afternoon to make it a 15-4 game. Harvard scored the next three goals to complete an 18-4 victory.

Simone Koryszewski started and picked up 10 saves. Falcone, Cordelia Flemming, and Alison Surace were tied for the team lead with two ground balls each. Falcone had six draw controls, finishing her career with 166. Julie Griswold finished her Lion career, making her 60th career start and tallying her 69th ground ball to go with 45 career caused turnovers and stellar defense throughout all four seasons.
