Archery, track & field, softball, women's tennis, and lacrosse are all in action away from home this weekend

NEW YORK — Columbia archery, softball, women's tennis and track and field are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.

Archery
The archery team participates in its first event of the outdoor season, the Arizona Cup, which takes place Friday-Sunday at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, Arizona. The 2025 USA Archery AAE Arizona Cup is a USAT Series Qualifier and will serve as Stage 1 of the 2025 World Archery Championships U.S. Team Trials - Recurve. Eight Columbia archers will compete at the Arizona Cup. Senior Judith Gottlieb, junior Lillian Han, sophomore Eunice Choi and Michelle Ahn, and first-year Alena Lipscomb will represent the Lions in recurve. Juniors Giselle DeSousa and Sydney Sullenberger, and first-year Briana Moore will represent Columbia in compound. Click here for electronic live scoring, which is available through BetweenEnds.com.

Softball

The Lions (10-12, 4-2 Ivy) look to continue their hot start in Ivy Leage play when they travel to New Haven, Conn., for a three-game series against Yale. Due to the predicted weather in the area, the series has been moved to a double header Friday starting at 1:00 p.m. with game two slated to start at 3:30 p.m. The finale has been moved to Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Columbia is currently tied for second in the Ivy League standings with Dartmouth. Last week, the Lions took game one of the series at Harvard before getting swept on getaway day. At the dish, the Lions are swinging a hot bat, with five players hitting over .300. Sarah Mikami is hitting a team-leading .417 (25-for-60) with five doubles, two triples, and four home runs. In the circle, the Lions sport a staff ERA of 6.47. First-year pitcher Emmy Davis leads the squad with a 4-3 record and a 4.89 ERA. She and Jordan Hill are tied for the team lead with 21 strikeouts.

Lacrosse

The Columbia lacrosse team has a quick turnaround, resuming Ivy League play on Saturday against #17 Brown. In search of their first Ivy win, the Lions will be coming in hot after a 15-8 win over Wagner on Wednesday. In addition to the win, two Columbia players had major career milestones. Cecelia Messner's third goal of the game, coming with 4:22 remaining in the second quarter, marked her 100th career point. In addition, On Serena Hong's goal with 9:56 remaining in the third quarter, Falcone recorded an assist, which gave her 128 career points, moving her into sole possession of eighth on the program's all-time points list. The Lions hope they can continue this momentum against a tough Bears team, that is 7-3 entering Saturday with back-to-back Ivy wins over #7 Yale and #24 Harvard. Most recently, Brown lost, 14-13, to Duke.

Women's Tennis

The 72nd- ranked Columbia women's tennis team will play back-to-back Ivy League contests this weekend. The Lions open play at Brown on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I. before battling No. 69 Yale in New Haven, Conn. On Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Lions (10-6, 1-0 Ivy) are riding a two-match winning streak after sweeping Cornell 4-0 on the road last weekend. After swiftly taking the doubles point, first-year Malak El Allami got the win in singles play to improve to 19-10 overall. Gayathri Krishnan and Winta Tewolde completed the sweep winning their matches in straight-sets.

Track & Field

The track and field team's outdoor season continues this weekend, with three more meets on schedule. All three meets begin Friday, with the first kicking off being the METS Outdoor Championships on Randall's Island. The Florida Relays begin at 10 a.m. and will continue through Saturday in Gainesville. Lastly, the Sam Howell Distance Carnival will begin on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Columbia is fresh off another three-meet weekend, during which the most success came in the Navy Outdoor Invitational. In Maryland, Sydney Goldson, the women's 4x100m relay team (Sean O'Brien, Kylie Castillo, Olivia Sterling, and Josie Rempe), Norina Khanzada, Madison Williams, Caden Cutchall, Collin Moore, and Jaden Ebanks all earned wins. The Lions will look to continue this momentum into the new weekend.
