Columbia Set for 2025 USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals

Four-day event runs Thursday-Sunday in East Lansing, Michigan

NEW YORK — The Columbia University archery team will compete at the 2025 Hotel Planner USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals this Thursday-Sunday, May 15-18. This year's event takes place at the Hope Sports Complex in East Lansing, Michigan, hosted in partnership with Michigan State University and Lansing Sports Commission. Hundreds of the nation's top collegiate student-athletes are expected to compete.

After practice rounds and opening ceremonies on Thursday, the competition officially begins on Friday at 8 a.m. ET with the Qualification Rounds. The Individual Elimination Round takes place on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Later that afternoon is the Official Team Round, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The event wraps up on Sunday with the Gold Medal Finals at 8 a.m., followed by the Mixed Team Finals before the Awards Ceremony at approximately noon.

Eight archers will represent Columbia, five in recurve and three in compound. Senior Judith Gottlieb, junior Lillian Han, sophomores Michelle Ahn and Eunice Choi, and first-year Mia Shin are entered in the recurve competition. Juniors Sydney Sullenberger and Giselle DeSousa, as well as first-year Briana Moore are entered in the compound competition. Those three will also shoot for Columbia in the compound team event. Coach Davis will select the three recurve archers with the highest scores from qualification to shoot in the recurve team competition

At last year's event, Gottlieb, Ahn and Choi teamed up to win the Recurve College Women's Team National Championship. The trio posted the highest score in the qualifying round (1,875), took down Pikeville, 5-3, in the semifinals and outdueled Cumberlands, 6-2, in the finals.

Additionally, five Lions were named All-Americans, which included Gottlieb, Ahn, Choi, Han and DeSousa. Among the 10 recurve All-Americans, Choi had the highest combined score (18.236) to rank first. Gottlieb ranked second (17.981). Choi was also the bronze medalist in the individual collegiate recurve national competition.
