Field Hockey Stays Unbeaten with 3-1 Victory Over Fairfield

The Lions are 3-0 for the first time since 2021

NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey defeated Fairfield, 3-1, on Friday at the Columbia Field Hockey Complex.

Columbia (3-0) received a penalty stroke goal from Agustina Solari Etcheberry to open the scoring 1:34 into the match. Fairfield (2-3) tied it in the second quarter at 1-1 with 7:14 left until the break.

The Lions answered with a goal from Ashley Kim with 1:41 remaining in the first half to go back in front, 2-1. Columbia tacked on an insurance goal in the fourth quarter from Jacinta Solari Etcheberry.

Columbia goalkeeper Margot Houle made eight saves in the win and has recorded 16 stops through her first three career games this season. The Lions were outshot 15-4 (9-4 on goal) and the Stags held the advantage in penalty corners, 11-3.

Columbia is back in action on Sunday at Quinnipiac at 12 p.m.
