Women's Soccer Wraps Non-Conference Play with 1-1 Draw with Monmouth

Beltran's 76th minute strike helped the Lions scratch out the tie at Commisso

NEW YORK – Columbia women's soccer returned to Commisso Stadium on Sunday afternoon for its final non-conference test of 2025, battling Monmouth to a 1-1 draw.

The Hawks struck first in the 57th minute, when Evangeline Perdomo found the back of the net to give Monmouth a 1-0 lead.

Columbia (2-4-2) responded in the 77th minute as Maia Beltran converted on a chance inside the box to level the score. The goal marked Beltran's second of the season.

Goalkeeper Samantha Mahoney recorded one save on the afternoon, while her counterpart Tallulah Miller turned away three shots for Monmouth (5-2-1). The Lions created several dangerous opportunities late in the second half, including looks from Charlyse Berry, Lillie Hutchings, and Gabby Chan, but were unable to find a winner.

Statistically, Columbia finished with a 10-8 edge in total shots and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, while Monmouth held a 3-1 lead in saves. Both teams were called for five fouls apiece in what proved to be a tightly contested match.
