
Squash Sets to Compete in CSA Individual Championships

Seven Lions Face Competitors Nationwide
NEW YORK– Columbia's squash squad, Yusuf Sheikh, Shaurya Bawa, Frankie Smith, Arhan Chandra, and Nourin Khalifa, is ready to face off against athletes around the country this weekend in the CSA Individual Championships.
TIME AND LOCATION
The tournament will take place from Friday, January 23, through Tuesday, January 27. Early-round matches will be held Friday through Sunday at Open Squash – FiDi, before the tournament moves to the Glass Court in Grand Central Terminal on Monday and Tuesday for the Men's and Women's semifinals and finals.

LAST TIME OUT
Columbia opened its conference slate on the road against Harvard and Dartmouth. Sophomore Yusuf Sheikh remained undefeated against conference opponents this season as Sheikh cruised to a straight-game win at first singles, defeating Shan Jolly 11-4, 11-5, 11-2.
Columbia added another point at second singles when junior Shaurya Bawa battled through five games to earn a comeback victory over Arihant K S, closing the match with three straight games to seal the win.
At third singles, senior Franklyn Smith delivered another key result, outlasting Wei Yan Tho in five games in a match that stretched over an hour.
On the women's side, senior Nourin Khalifa outlasted Maria Clara Ramirez Velasquez in five games at first singles. Khalifa rallied after dropping the fourth game to secure the deciding fifth, clinching the match 11-8 to put the Lions on the board.
