A senior-led effort powered Columbia to a 213-86 win in the regular-season finale.
"It's always good to win, and especially on Senior Day," Head Coach Jim Bolster said. "You want your seniors to walk away with a positive memory, and winning is about as positive as it gets. I thought we swam well enough across the board to get the result, and it was a great way for the seniors to finish their careers and for our team to close the regular season."
Columbia opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Isaac Beers, Beri Yang, Brian Lee, and Zion James touched first in 1:27.37 to establish an early advantage.
Senior-led performances highlighted the middle of the meet. Stephen Zhukov delivered a strong showing in the distance events, winning the 1000 freestyle in 9:10.55 before adding a runner-up finish in the 500 free. Zach Vasser followed closely behind in both events, placing second in the 1000 and first in the 500 freestyle (4:30.22), helping Columbia control the distance races.
The Lions continued to build separation in the stroke events. Beers once again picked up a victory in the 100 backstroke in his final meet at Uris (47.21), while Kyle Won added a win in the 200 back (1:46.32). Joshua Corn captured first in the 100 breaststroke (54.34), and Beri Yang followed with a runner-up finish. Seungjoon Ahn led a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 butterfly, winning in 1:47.22, while Brian Lee added another victory in the 100 fly (48.10).
Sprint success came from Zion James for one last time at Uris, who won the 50 freestyle in 19.86 and anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay to close the meet. The relay squad of James, Sam Eckert, Kevin Obochi, and Adam Wu touched first in a pool record 1:18.72 to cap the Senior Day victory.
On the boards, Joseph Nicol and Will Cooley delivered a strong one-two punch. Nicol won the 3-meter dive with a score of 356.85 before adding a runner-up finish on the 1-meter. Cooley captured first in the 1-meter dive (314.25) and placed second on the 3-meter, rounding out a dominant performance in the diving events.
"Outstanding diving from everyone today," Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. "So proud of everyone and particularly our senior Joe Nicol going out with a win in his final home meet in our home pool."
