Lions head to Attleboro, Mass., for Saturday’s championship meet
NEW YORK — Columbia cross country will compete at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. The women's 6K begins at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at noon. Brown will host the championships, marking the first time the meet has been held at the course.
The Columbia women look to build on last season's third-place finish, the program's best showing at Heps since 2019. Olivia Murray returns after earning Second Team All-Ivy honors with a 12th-place finish in 21:41.7. Leanna Johnston also placed among the top 20, finishing 17th in 21:50.9. The men finished sixth, with Henry Koike-Sieira placing 29th in 25:40.1.
Murray and Johnston enter the weekend following strong performances at the ECAC Championships on Oct. 17. Murray finished fourth in 20:27.2, while Johnston took sixth in 20:32.4 to help Columbia secure second place in the 26-team field with 100 points, ahead of third-place Yale's 106.
Dana Lehr, Teresina Deascanis and Ava Malagisi completed the Lions' scoring five, finishing 25th, 28th and 37th, respectively. Just 48.9 seconds separated Columbia's five scorers. The men finished eighth with 227 points in their final competition before Heps.
Koike-Sieira has been a leading contributor for the men this fall, pacing Columbia at the Princeton Meadows Challenge with an 8K time of 24:20.0. First-year Trent Thibault followed in 24:41.3, while Finneas Colescott recorded a personal-best 24:55.2. Quentin Ryan and Ben Bergey rounded out the scoring group.

The Lions swept both team titles at the Mets Championships on Oct. 10. Ralph Brown led the men with a third-place finish as Columbia placed all five scorers in the top nine to win with 29 points. Caroline Adams paced the women in fourth, helping the Lions claim the team title with 44 points.
