The Lions picked up a win in the second round
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia heavyweight rowing raced in the Princeton Three-Mile Chase over the weekend at Lake Carnegie.
Columbia brought 11 athletes down and raced with a couple of changes in the boat from morning to afternoon. That group was composed of only first-years and sophomores. The Lions crossed the finish line in 13:04.896, edging Wisconsin A (13:05.544) by 0.648 seconds. Princeton A finished third in 13:11.036, 6.140 seconds behind Columbia.
"We were trying to get the younger guys some good race experience if they didn't race in the Charles boats," Director of Rowing Tom Terhaar said. "In the first race the guys raced well, and hit their target of making up some ground on boats we saw at the Charles. The second race was just another opportunity to have some fun and they did. They got to do some passing of other boats and ended up winning the 2nd round. The coaches were really proud of the effort and aggressive attitude of the younger half of our team."
