Weiss Earns a Fifth Ivy League Player of the Week Selection

Becomes the fourth player in program history to earn five selections in a season
NEW YORK – Columbia women's basketball guard Riley Weiss (Hewlett, N.Y.) earned her league-leading fifth Ivy League Player of the Week selection, as announced by the Ivy League office on Monday afternoon. Weiss and Harvard's Karlee White were voted Co-Players of the Week for games played February 9-15.
Weiss averaged 22.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and an assist across a 2-0 week for Columbia against No. 24 Princeton and Penn. The junior shot 47.1 percent (16-34) from the floor and 41.2 percent (7-17) from 3-point range, and was also a perfect 5-for-5 at the charity stripe.
In Friday night's clash with the Tigers, Weiss dropped 23 points as the Lions erased a six-point halftime deficit to win, 70-56. She scored 20 in the second half to lead the comeback, going 7-of-9 from the floor and 3-for-3 from long range over the final 20 minutes. Columbia outscored Princeton, 45-25, over that time, earning a regular-season sweep against the Tigers for the second year in a row. The win moved Columbia (17-6, 8-2 Ivy) into a share of first place, but the Lions own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Princeton (20-3, 8-2 Ivy) for potential Ivy Madness seeding.
Less than 24 hours later, Weiss scored 21 points with four rebounds, two steals and an assist in a 69-56 win over Penn. She helped catapult an opening run that saw the Lions go up 27-7. Penn hung around but never got closer than eight, as the Lions avenged a loss from two weeks ago in Philadelphia.
Weiss is the Ivy League's leading scorer at 19.7 points per game. She ranks in the top 25 in the NCAA in scoring and 3-pointers made per game (2.87). The junior also climbed to eighth on Columbia's all-time scoring list, now with 1,219 career points, and became the 18th player in Ivy League history to make 200 career 3-pointers.
Weiss's five Ivy League Player of the Week selections are the most by a Lion since Abbey Hsu had a program-record seven during her 2023-24 senior season. She is the fourth player in program history to earn at least five selections in a season, joining Hsu, Camille Zimmerman (2016-17) and Judie Lomax (2009-10).
Senior Perri Page was named to this week's Ivy League Honor Roll. Page averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in the two games. She scored a career-high 25 points in Friday's victory over Princeton.
Columbia travels to Dartmouth (10-13, 1-9 Ivy) this Saturday. Tip-off from Leede Arena in Hanover, New Hampshire, is scheduled for 2 p.m.
