NEW YORK — Columbia softball and men's golf are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using Lions on the Road to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.

Softball
The Columbia softball team plays its second nonconfernce tournament to open the 2026 season when the Lions travel to DeLand, Fla., to participate in the Stetson Invitational. Columbia will play five games over three days, taking on St. John's all three days and tournament host Stetson on Friday and Saturday. The tournament begins on Friday at noon, when the Lions play back-to-back doubleheaders against the Big Storm and then the Hatters at 2:30. The tournament continues on Saturday, with Columbia facing St. Johns at noon and Stetson at 5 p.m. The tournament concludes on Sunday with Columbia taking on St. John's at 10 a.m. Live stats will be available for all five games. Friday's game against the Hatters will be streamed live on ESPN+. Columbia enters this weekend 0-4 after going winless in last weekend's Spiro Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro. As the tournament progressed, the Lions got stronger. First-year starter Mads Lawson went six complete in her second start and struck out seven in a 2-1 loss to Fairfield. Junior Tatum Hubble had a stellar weekend at the dish, hitting .346 to lead Columbia. Sophomore Kyra Mason clubbed her first career home run last weekend as well.

Men's Golf
The men's golf team tees up the spring season this weekend at The Savannah Intercollegiate. The 18-team field features Bowling Green, Lehigh, IU Indianapolis, Dartmouth, Villanova, Queens (NC), Colgate, Bradley, Sacred Heart, Creighton, Fairfield, Longwood, Iona, Purdue Fort Wayne, Morehead State, West Georgia and Youngstown State. The Lions head into the spring after a successful fall that saw them earn three top five finishes in four tournaments, including a victory at the Columbia Autumn Invitational (Sept. 27-28) at Lake Placid Club. First year Neil Kulkarni boasted a team-best stroke average over 12 rounds of 72.33, followed closely behind by fellow first year Alejandro Formosa (72.67), senior George Rubelsky (73.00) and senior Darren Pang (73.08). Formosa and Kulkarni each also earned a runner-up individual finish in their first fall season. Last year, the Lions finished fourth out of 14 teams at The Savannah Intercollegiate, including an impressive opening team round of 11 under par.
