Third player in program history to earn All-America honors
NEW YORK – Columbia women's basketball junior guard Riley Weiss (Hewlett, N.Y.) has been voted Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention and has also been voted one of 48 finalists for the WBCA Coaches' All-America Teams. Both announcements were made on Wednesday afternoon.
Weiss is the third player in Columbia women's basketball history to earn All-America Honors, joining two-time All-American Abbey Hsu '24CC (2022-23, 2023-24) and Judie Lomax '10BC (2009-10). She was voted the 2025-26 Ivy League Player of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-Ivy League selection.
Entering the WBIT, Weiss leads the Ivy League in scoring average (19.9), total points (556), total threes (80), 3-pointers made per game (2.86), 3-point field goal percentage (37.0%), and total field goals made (198). Nationally, she ranks in the top 20 in scoring and 3-pointers per game, top 50 in total threes, and top 75 in field goals, points and 3-point percentage.
A native of the hamlet of Hewlett on Long Island, Weiss earned a league-leading six Ivy League Player of the Week selections, becoming the seventh player in league history to earn at least as many in a single season. She also earned several regional and national awards throughout her junior campaign, twice being named Met Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Div. I Women's Player of the Week, earning one USBWA Women's National Player of the Week award, two Associated Press National Player of the Week Honorable Mentions, and one NCAA Starting 5 Players of the Week nod.
One of Weiss's more memorable performances came when she broke Columbia's single-game scoring record in a home win over Dartmouth (Jan. 24). The sharpshooter buried 40, including 26 in the first half alone, to break the previous mark of 39 set by Ellen Bossert '86BC in 1986. Weiss was 15-of-23 from the field and 9-of-13 from deep in that outing, also breaking Columbia's single-game record for field goals made and tying the record for 3-pointers made. Then, a few weeks later, she scored 38 in a win at Cornell (Feb. 7), once again tying the 3-point record by going 9-of-12 from the outside.
Weiss and the Lions (20-8) now get set for a WBIT First Round home game against St. John's (22-11). Thursday's opening tip from Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
