Formosa in the Top 12 After Round 1 of Ivy League Championship

Lions in the middle of the back after opening 18 holes
SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — First year Alejandro Formosa shot an opening-round 2-over-par 74 and is tied for 12th at the Ivy League Men's Golf Championship. The tournament began on Friday at Baltusrol Golf Club's Lower Course.
Formosa, who leads the Lions in stroke average on the season, birdied the tough par-4 third and got into red numbers with another birdie at the 465-yard, par-4 sixth. He dropped a shot on nine to make the turn in even-par 36, and went on to card three bogeys and one birdie over his second nine.
Senior Darren Pang and first year Neil Kulkarni posted a pair of 4-over rounds and are tied for 14th in the 35-player field. Pang and Kulkarni carded 12 pars apiece in their opening rounds, which tied for the fourth-most pars by any player in the field.
Senior George Rubelsky and sophomore Ryan Keyes are tied for 22nd with opening-round 78s.
Columbia (+16) is in fifth, one shot behind Yale (+15) and one shot in front of Dartmouth (+17). Harvard (-2) leads the championship, followed by Princeton (+6) and Penn (+11).
The Lions tee off in Saturday's second round starting at 8:20 a.m. Fans can find pairings and follow the live leaderboard throughout the weekend on the College Golf Scoreboard, powered by Clippd.
