Zeng Continues to Lead Columbia at Ann Arbor Regional

Rookie in the top 25 heading to Wednesday’s final round
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — First year Emily Zeng and the Columbia Lions battled through a challenging second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Ann Arbor Regional on Tuesday. The regional is being hosted at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
The field's second-round scoring average climbed to 75.11, nearly 1.5 strokes higher than Monday's first round. Zeng and sophomore Sarah Shao came in just under the Round 2 average with a pair of 4-over-par 75s. Zeng did well to bounce back from a double at the 406-yard, par-4 second, playing her next 10 holes at even par. The rookie from Beijing carded 13 pars on the day and leads the field in pars made for the tournament with 28. She sits inside the top 25 on the leaderboard at 3 over for the tournament. Shao is tied for 43rd at 9 over.
First year Kristina Xu is tied for 35th at 7 over par. She shot a second-round 5-over 76, recovering from four straight bogeys on holes 2-5 to play her final 13 holes at 1 over. She drained two birdies along the way.
First year Camille Thai (+15) is tied for 55th and sophomore Christine Chang (+17) is in 60th.
The Lions (+34) sit in 10th place on the 12-team leaderboard. They are eight shots back of the next team, No. 23 Oklahoma, 11 shots behind eighth-place UNLV and within 13 shots of seventh-place No. 38 Kansas.
The Lions will tee off at the 10th hole in Wednesday's final round, beginning at 8:55 a.m. Columbia will play in threesomes alongside competitors from Oakland and Quinnipiac.
