No. 17 Women’s Rowing Wraps Up NCAA Championship on Sunday

The Lions’ Varsity Four came away with a victory in the Third Final
GAINESVILLE, Ga. — No. 17 Columbia women's rowing completed its first-ever NCAA Championship appearance, racing in three Third Finals on Sunday at Lake Lanier Olympic Park.
Columbia's Varsity Four crossed the finish line first in the Third Final in 7:10.447. The Lions overcame an early deficit after Rhode Island held the fastest opening 500-meter split. Columbia moved into contention through the middle 1,000 meters before taking command of the race with the fastest second 500-meter segment. Columbia continued to extend its advantage over the final stretch, finishing 4.576 seconds ahead of Jacksonville.
Columbia's First Varsity Eight was edged by Michigan in the Third Final by 1.040 and finished in second place at 6:00.496. The Lions were a clip behind the Wolverines for 2000 meters.
The Lions' Second Varsity Eight earned a runner-up finish in the Third Final. Columbia crossed the line in 6:13.509, narrowly edging UCF by less than a tenth of a second. Rutgers won the race in 6:05.755.
Columbia finished 15th in the Points Trophy Standings with 49 points.
