The Lions will add 28 new members to the squad this fall
NEW YORK — Patricia and Shepard Alexander Head Coach of Football Jon Poppe officially introduced Columbia Football's Class of 2030 on Thursday.
The incoming class features 28 student-athletes. Eight members of the class earned all-state honors during their high school careers, while four helped lead their programs to state championships.
"We are excited to welcome this outstanding group of young men and their families to Columbia," said Poppe. "This class is filled with student-athletes who have demonstrated the character, competitiveness and commitment to excellence that define our program. They bring talent, depth and versatility, and we can't wait to see the impact they will make on our team and our community."
Columbia's newest group includes 14 offensive players, 14 defensive players and one international student-athlete from China. On offense, the Lions added five wide receivers, five offensive linemen, two tight ends, one quarterback and one running back. Defensively, Columbia welcomes five defensive backs, five defensive linemen and four linebackers.
The Class of 2030 represents 14 states and one from China. Georgia, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania each produced four incoming Lions, while New Jersey contributed three. California and Ohio are represented by two student-athletes apiece.
