NEW YORK, N.Y. - Five Columbia players have earned recognition on the 2005 All-Ivy squad. Sophomore Kacy Krisman and senior Marisa Marconi led the way with first team honors. Junior pitcher Jackie Adelfio was named to the second team, and junior Shelle Borton and sophomore Lacie Nelson earned honorable mention.
Krisman was a unanimous first-team selection after batting .306 on the season and .368 in Ivy League play. She led the team in hits with 41, RBI with 23, homeruns with five and slugging percentage at .522. Krisman was third in the league in stolen bases with 10 in 11 attempts.
Marconi, who earns first-team honors for the second time, started every game of the season and finished out her senior season batting .295. She led the league in doubles with 17, which also broke the Columbia single season record. Marconi led the team along with Krisman with 41 hits and was second on the team with 22 RBI. In the field, she finished the season with a fielding percentage of .992 and now holds the Columbia career records for fielding percentage (.993) and putouts (1,359).
Adelfio, who was honorable mention last spring and first-team as a first-year, was third in the league in strikeouts with 132 and saves with three and finished the year with the lowest ERA on the team at 2.20. She made 29 appearances this season, throwing 24 complete games and finished the year with a 14-11 record.
Borton started in 43 games for the Lions this season. She hit .250 overall and .303 in Ivy League games. Nelson hit .282 in the regular season and .333 in Ivy play for Columbia.
