The women's tennis team used the early doubles point to take the match against Boston University, 4-3, in Boston on Saturday. The Lions swept the doubles matches and then picked up three singles points to secure the victory.
In doubles play, the top pairing of Milena Kachar (C-Boca Raton, Fla.) and Marlena Hall (B-Plantation, Fla.) won a thrilling doubles match, 9-8. Second doubles team, Angela Hendry (C-Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Christina Kim (C-Palisades Park, N.J.) took their match easily, 8-3, and at No. 3 doubles Kendall Murphy (C-Lake Forest, Ill.) and Kara Worsley (C-Winston-Salem, N.C.) outlasted their opponents, 9-7.
In singles play, Milena Kachar (C-Boca Raton, Fla.) took her match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, but that was the only easy win for the Lions. First-year Hendry battled to take her No. 2 singles match. Hendry, who has been very impressive during the fall and spring seasons so far, won 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 over Laura Ahmes.
Finally, in the last match to end, sophomore Anna Varnay rallied from a set down to defeat Terrier captain Monica Sheperd, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Though she did not see much action last season as a first-year, Varnay has been one of the Lions' most consistent and improved players this season. Her win at No. 5 singles clinched the match for the Lions.
