NEW HAVEN, CONN. -- Columbia split a double-dual meet with a victory over Brown, 134-107, and a loss to host Yale, 167-76. The Lions are now 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Swim League.
The Lions showed superior depth vs. the Bears, as Columbia placed first against Brown in just five of the meet's 13 events but still posted a 27-point triumph. The Lions finished 1-2-3 in the 200 back, 1-3-4 in both the 200 fly and 500 free, and 2-3-4 in the 1000 free and 200 breast.
Tobin White was first aginst Brown's swimmers in both the 200-yard free and 500 free in 1:40.39 and 4:37.07, respectively. Steve Searles was first in the 200 back in 1:55.19.
Columbia had two athletes place first vs. both teams. Justin Reardon won the three-meter dive with a score of 275.90, while Ben Collins was fastest in the 200 fly in 1:52.96.
Collins also defeated all Yale swimmers in the 200 individual medley in 1:51.72 to place second overall.
Columbia returns home to Uris Pool on Friday, Feb. 11 at 4:30 p.m. vs. Princeton. The following day, Saturday the 12th, Columbia hosts Navy at 1 p.m.
