NEW YORK, N.Y. -
Matt Preston, the former Lions' team captain and two-time All-Ivy forward, has signed with Omniworld Almere in the Dutch Eredivisie League and will leave to join the team in mid-August.
Preston led the Lions in scoring with 13.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in 2004-05. The 6-5 forward ranked third in the Ivy League in scoring and fourth in rebounding last season. He shot .451 from the floor for the season and .77 blocks per game, which were ninth and tenth in the league respectively.
With 21 double-digit scoring games this season, Preston also added four double-doubles, increasing his career-total to six. He finishes his career with 819 points, having scored almost 95 percent of that total in the past two seasons.
In addition to two All-Ivy honors, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association named Preston to the All-Metropolitan Area third team.
"We are extremely proud of Matt and wish him the best as he begins his professional career," head coach Joe Jones said. "For him to improve every season, finish his collegiate career as an All-Ivy and All-Metropolitan Area player and be able to continue to compete professionally is a testament to his work ethic and dedication. We are very happy for him."
