Box Score

Columbia women's soccer rallied, but fell to Yale, 3-2, in New Haven. Shannon Munoz scored on a penalty kick early in the first half and Meghan Hurlbut tallied in the 75th minute, but the Bulldogs squeezed three goals in between for the victory. The Lions fall to 8-7 with the loss while Yale improves to 12-4.

Munoz (C-Coto de Caza, Calif.), who scored a golden goal in the Lions' last match, converted a 7th minute penalty to open the scoring in the match. The goal was Munoz's sixth of the season.

The Bulldogs equalized in the 38th minute when Laurel Karnes scored off an assist from Stephanie Delvecchio and took the lead on the stroke of halftime when Delvecchio scored unassisted.

Just five minutes after the break the Bulldogs went two up via a Jamie Ortega strike and held that lead for fifteen minutes until Hurlbut scored her third goal in three matches. Rachel Biondolillo (C-Weston, Mass.) assisted on Hurlbut's (C-McLean, Va.) goal as the sophomore brought Columbia within one goal. Hurlbut has scored in each of the Lions' last three games after having never scored in her collegiate career.

The loss broke Columbia's three game winning streak and dropped the Lions to 1-5 in the Ivy League. Yale has won seven straight matches. They will look to rebound on Tuesday at home against St. John's on Senior Night.
