Theodore Cowling joined the Columbia University athletic training staff in July 2018 and was promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer for the Baker Athletics Complex in 2022. His primary sport assignments with the Lions include football and baseball.

Cowling came to Morningside Heights after serving as an assistant athletic trainer at Rutgers University for two years (2016-18). He worked primarily with the Scarlet Knights’ baseball team.

Prior to his stint at Rutgers, Cowling worked two full years as an assistant athletic trainer at Seton Hall University (2014-16). While with the Pirates, he worked closely with the men’s soccer, men’s & women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis and softball teams.

A 2011 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, Cowling earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science. He also played collegiate baseball. He went on to earn Master’s degree in athletic training from Seton Hall University in 2014. While at Seton Hall, he also served athletic training internships with the Army West Point Athletics Department (2014), New York Jets (2013), Ridgewood High School (2013), and at Seton Hall (2012).

Cowling is a certified athletic trainer and member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
