Danny Haydon returns for his fifth season after joining the Columbia field hockey staff in August 2009.
"Danny brings a tremendous amount of experience and high level tactical concepts to the squad," said head coach Marybeth Freeman. "As an international athlete, he is a great addition to this well-balanced staff and provides a wonderful visual aid for our athletes."
Haydon was a member of England's national team for a number of years and competed in the Champions Trophy (the top six nations in the world) as well as the World Cup. He helped his team to a Youth Olympics Gold Medal and later became the youngest player ever to captain England's U21 team. Having traveled all over for competition, Haydon also became the first European player to play in the Indian and Malaysian Premier Hockey Leagues.
Currently a sales associate at Riskmetrics Group, Haydon graduated from the University of Southampton in 2001. He was the class valedictorian and had his thesis published in the International Journal of Strength and Conditioning. He returned to Southampton to earn his masters in business administration, graduating with distinction in 2003.
